Tarakeswar
is a town and a municipality in the Indian state of West Bengal.
It is a Police Station in Chandannagar subdivision. It is a
very renowned place of pilgrimage and the greatest place to
visit Lord Shiva's temple in West Bengal.
Tarakeswar is also a rich place for agriculture. It has several
cold storages. The center of attraction is the temple of Taraknath.
It consists a 'atchala' structure with a 'natmandir' in front.
There is a tank called 'Dudhpukur' to the north of Shiva temple,
which is believed to fulfill the prayers of those who take a
dip in it. Pilgrims visit the temple throughout the year but
specially on Mondays. Thousands of pilgrims visit Tarakeswar
on the occasions of 'Shivaratri' and 'Gajan'.
Just 6 km away there is a Buddhist temple. The name of the place
is Deulpara. It is the only Buddhist temple in Hooghly District.
Tarakeswar is not only enriched in religious matters but also
in educational prospects.
In Tarakeswar, there are many Primary schools, High schools
and Degree colleges. Even Tarakeswar Railway Station is recently
declared as a Multifunctional Station. So, we can now say that
Tarakeswar is a place of culture, education, and religion. Tarakeswar
is coming up as a new and beautiful place from each and every
angle.
