Bansberia is a very historical and beautiful
place. It is under Mogra / Chinsurah police stations in Chinsurah
subdivision. It is one of the main villages of ancient Saptagram.
It is famous for the temples of Ananta Vasudeva and Hangseshwari.
The Ananta Vasudeva temple was built in 1679 A.D and was constructed
in the traditional ekaratna style with curved cornices and
an octagonal tower. The Hangsheshwari temple is well known
for their intricate terracotta works and unique architectural
style that inspired Rabindranath Tagore. This is a 21 meters
high temple. The thirteen minars, each shaped like a lotus
bud, and the inner layout that follows the human anatomy are
really mind boggling.
Bansberia's population of 104,453 includes 53%
of male and 47% of female.The average literacy of Bansberia
is 71%. Bansberia is 48km north from Howrah, and is an hour's
journey along the Howrah-Katwa rail line. Well-built roads
also connect it.
